
This summer, Brisbane comes alive with the sights and sounds of a range of world-class entertainment, international sporting matches and exclusive exhibitions that are sure to create one of the city’s most memorable summers in the past decade.
The city has already got the jump on the rest of the country by hosting the opening test match of the 2010 – 2011 Ashes cricket series.
While 21st Century: Art in the First Decade (Saturday 18 December to Tuesday 26 April) at the Gallery of Modern Art will celebrate works created and acquired between 2000 and 2010, the Woodford Folk Festival (Monday 27 December to Saturday 1 January) will mark a milestone of its own.
The Festival’s 25th Anniversary program is arguably the most exciting ever presented line-up, promising an epic journey into the kaleidoscope of Australian culture. With 620 national and international acts performing in 22 venues across Brisbane, the streets will also come alive with roving street theatre, parades, art and spontaneous performances throughout each day and night festival.
